    got a 1982 cb900c front end, and a 78 cx500 gas tank. nothing is fitted yet, the front end is on but i might need to shorten it a little, and the gas tank is just resting i decided to go with bbcr engineering style mono shock. different from what i was wanting but decided i like it and it's easier than what i had planned. the cardboard brackets are for an idea and not exactly how the brackets will bbe. next to mock up and make a seat, make the brackets and fit the tank. and then to get the frame ready for paint or powder coat.

    The angle is all wrong, the motor needs to be nearly level with a roughly 7 degree drop in the swing arm. So level out the motor, allow the swing arm to drop by the recommended degrees and then place your shock mounts on the frame AND beef up the swing arm where the shock will mount
    trying to help and not hinder your work or what you want to do

    appreciate that. this is just sitting right now on blocks while i was putting the front on. i will drop it and make sure its how it should be yes i will be reinforcing the swing arm. thank you for the tip though and it's no hinder. I'm taking all the help i can

    did some fabrication today. made a reinforcement plate for the swingarm, lower brackets for the monoshsock, and upper brackets from the frame to the shock. still a few things to fix up and make sure are right but the mock up is done. and i know the angle is still off and nothing is bolted or attached, ill get to that next. i was just making the brackets and stuff today.

    got all the brackets tacked down and the shock put on, i tried getting as close to the angle as i could like in a previous post someone suggested. it seems good and when i put my weight on the bike the driveshaft is almost level with the bike. like almost a straight line. is that bad or ok?

    if it stays level at full build weight and you still have decent travel left you are good

    Thanks for the info. I'll see how things keep going before I weld everything up for sure. If anything I'll have to do a little adjustments

    its been a while but finally had some time to do some more work. i got the seat frame tacked in. this is the basic idea of it. i need to make some extra support for it and adjust the tank to how it will sit and then to weld it all in for the final
