Took most of the day, but the front calipers are off and disassembled. had to order seals and boots as the local dealer had none in stock. not surprised. The pistons were a major PIA to get out. Will re-evaluate condition in the morning with better light. Also ran out of Pb Blaster... S__t! Think the caliper parts will go in the US cleaner tomorrow as well.

Since the cam chain seems to have some life, I will probably do the carbs next to see if there is life left in this old girl. My initial thoughts were to start on the front end and work towards the rear, Now I'm going to see how the engine runs first before sinking a ton of cash into her

    The top pair look dark.

Oil or brake fluid or just the angle/lighting.

The lower pair look fine to me.

I'm sure they would work .

If the're not saturated a spirited ride or 3

and they would vaporize any surface

    contamination.

The sixty.com. pads get good reviews .

Got some for GL I .

    Cheaper on Ebay than site.

1 pak per caliper "full set" is sorta misleading .

They have sintered bronze but they need a warm up and

    wear rotors quicker.

I have had success just polishing the pistons. Mine were stainless steel and cleaned up easily on the polishing wheel.
My Yamaha caliper pistons are plated junk and when they get grimy they are done for. I found that some Honda pistons would fit the Yamaha.

The old pistons were scored and would most likely chew up new seals

Oh, also my new carb kits came with new jets. Not sure if the GL650 uses the same jets as the CX500, but you are welcome to them as I am rejetting mine to 90/120.

Carbs cleaned and back on. Only firing on right side. Seems like an electrical issue. Sprayed in intake port no effect. Will be looking into it further.
