Not sure how that would work, as I had an original plate for my brothers 1971 CB100 still on the bike. when I tried to get stickers at the ministry they refused the plate as it didnt have enough numbers, plus since it was before there computerized system they said no way. Also, had to get Honda to validate the SIN which was a pain as it was before their computer system and they couldnt find it ... eventually generating a letter that it was a valid bike. Ended up having to get a new plate to get it on the road.

i know this is a year old thread but i went through it so im sure others will as well. desjardins gave me the best quote beating any of the others that i tried by almost $500. dalton timmins gave me a reasonable quote 2 years ago but it seems their prices have gone theough the roof. it is crazy this whole gta insurance madness and i daresay its because most companies are brokered or conglomerated with other companies. anyway i am 24 years old. m2 for 2 1/2 years full G with insured car for 5 years and clean record. perhaps id get a bit of a better deal with bundling my car with them but my insurance on my car is a better price where it is with intact. anyway im paying 1550/year for my 82 gl500i which i gave them and estimated value of 1500. it seems ridiculous until you compare it to the range of 2000-3000 other places quoted me (thats even with trying to bundle with my car with intact

Is that basic PL&PD or does that include fire & theft?

    Sorry to hear that Scarberiantraveller
I believe its solely to do with your age.
It will go down with more time and get your M licence as soon as you have a chance......that will help as well

Yeah. Insurance has always been insane for young people, mostly because of the higher chance of an accident (unfortunately, enough young people drive like idiots to make things bad for the rest who don't). When my brother in law was 15 he bought a car and spent a year fixing it up. When he turned 16 he got his license (aced the test) but when he found out how much insurance would cost he bought a moped to drive to his part time job while he saved up to insure it when he had his license for a year. And it is worse for bikes because a smaller error can cause you greater harm.

BTW: If you aren't getting email notifications for replies to threads you have posted check the first setting described here: in Forum Settings that everyone should make

After driving in GTA twice last year, I can see why insurance rates are so high.

If they would stop handing out Drivers Licences like they were the prize in a Cracker Jacks box AND actually had a real drivers training course that taught people how to drive + enforced the laws of the road (and not just speeding, which is all they pretty much do).......Then it may not be so bad here but anyone can be licenced now a days
