Ok....here is a simple do-it-yourself mini fairing design. After several unsuccessful attempts with other designs (maybe not unsuccessful but not what I was hoping for) I came up with this. First of all, I wanted something semi small (flyscreen like) and low profile. So first step was lowering the headlight (simply sliding brackets down the forks) and also lowering the gauges. The gauges were mounted to the underside of the original bracket with a threaded standoff (bolts from top and bottom). Once all that was in the position I wanted I started working with some oaktag (manila folder type material to get the proper shape for the fairing considering it would be coming from a flat sheet of nylon.

Folding the template in half to be sure I had good symmetry I kept trimming until I finally arrived at the desired shape (at least for now).

I removed the template and used some double sticky tape to attach it to the nylon sheet and proceeded to cut it out on the band saw and clean the edge up on the belt sander.

To connect the tabs together at the bottom I used some self adhesive "Velcro type" stuff...not actually Velcro but the stuff you would use to attach your easy pass to your windshield. It is like a bunch of pin heads that when pushed together interlock with one another.

I finished the edge of with some push on edge trim (trim lok)...it's optional...also there is similar stuff that can be used that is smaller if you want something less noticeable.

A patch of interlocking stuff under the headlight and one on top of the idiot lights and the fairing can be put on and taken off in a few seconds.
