Perfect. I'm a bit attached to my centre stand. Napping on my cx in the sun on break from work would be tricky with the side stand lol

Resurrecting an old thread, but wanted to add for those of you WITH Mac 2 into 1 pipes. I made a simple hanger by using the battery box (maybe from a CX or maybe from another bike, cannot remember). It was hinged already. I ran a piece of steel across the top, bending the ends and drilling holes to use the engine mount axle as the attach point. From there I bolted on the battery cage. I can unhinge it to load the battery.

Be warned, this is a tight fit.

Do you happen to have the dimensions? I was hoping to buy one but JJ has moved on! Thanks.

Has anyone else had reduced battery life via the under-engine battery mounting? I seem to go through a battery every season now, when I used to go 3 seasons before my batteries would bite the dust. (All the same style of sealed expensive battery)

From what I can tell each 8 degree rise in temp for a lead acid battery results in it's working life halving (ref). Could be that the positioning results in much more heat absorption than the stock position nestled in the relative cool next to the airbox.

Interesting. Well, maybe I should drill holes in the bottom of my mount to let air flow out. I figured being in the wind it would cool the battery, and thought it must be dying from vibration exposure. But it could be a lot warmer in that position. The exhaust is nearby and the engine heat could soak into the battery.

Just another thought, as I've been reading more about flow dynamics. If the battery is located at the lower rear of the engine, wouldn't that area be it's own sort of low pressure area, in terms of how air flows around the engine? If so, that could create an eddy pool of much warmer air that collects from the engine while in motion. Am I all wet?

the problem with under the bike batteries is that they hot soak

its fine while the bike is moving and has air flow but once the hot bike is shut off the battery tempo starts to climb from the engine and the exhaust
