I know one or two of you have done an under-engine battery mount. Got any pics or advice? In order to be able to fit either the cafe racer seat I just picked up, OR the stock seat (If I want to take a passenger), I need to relocate the battery. This will also give me quite a bit more storage space under the seat too, which is good since I can't really carry much in the way of luggage with my high pipes.

I have my own ideas, but I'd like to see some other ways of doing things before I take the plunge and start welding.

    Thanks!

    Hrm, interesting. Got pics?

Unfortunately my mounting would be abnormal, since I have a GL500 swingarm, center stand mount, brake pedal shaft tube, and collector tabs welded to a CX500 frame. But I'd like to see what it looks like.

I've done it but i don't have photos how it's mounted

It's a sealed battery turned 90' in a case ,the back side of the battery is mounted in that hook

and the front is mounted on stands brackets

my bike has a skid plate under the engine with enough room to store a battery. Maybe something like that would be of interest? it would only work though if the hbox was missing.

Here are a couple of views from my build thread. We used the h-box hanger mounting points.

The bottom hangers (bolts) allow it to pivot downward to "load" the battery, then the third screw (top right, rear corner) holds it stationary, in a horizontal position. If that was hard to follow, all three screws are tightened to hold it firmly in place...
