the spring is hardened
i think you will need to get a shorter spring or have them move the spring perch down the kick stand
And, after putting it's bolt back in, I realized because where they cut and shortened it, the spring is now way too long. Is it possible to cut and bend the spring a little to accommodate the shorter kickstand? how do I do that? been hammering for 20 minutes and I got nothing.
they are expensive. I think I am better off with a new spring completely. Is there a specific tension I am looking for, or just one that fits the length well, and has loops on both ends?
Just measured it, it's 3¼" from center of top perch to perch on the kickstand.
found this :
listing says : "spring measures 87 mm from end to end"
3.25 inches = 82.55 mm
might be a bit loose, wondering if an end can be bent MORE to make it fit better...
Unless anyone knows of a 3.25" spring
by the way, I am getting the 3.25" measurement with the kickstand in the "down" position...
you need to measure the "shut" length - the length the spring is when it is NOT under extension. Unhook one end off the spring perch and measure then. You need a spring that is shorter than the distance between the spring perches

yes, I did. it's about 3.25" inches from the centers of both perches, when the stand is either up or down. The one (I now bought) is 3.5" end to end. I am hoping I can bring to a mechanic or someone, if they bend in the loops on the ends 1/4" on both ends, it will be 3.25 or shorter, hopefully fit...
haha, I did, but I am out of options ...unless a manufacturer makes a 3.25" spring, or I pay a bunch to have the perch lowered on the stand.
Can't the spring be heated and bent if hardened?
so, gotta move the perch, huh?
