    Canadian Cafe Racer build up

    Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum and a new bike owner.
This is my first bike build as I never have owned a bike before! All my past experience has been with muscle cars, imports and vintage cars.
Vicious Wheels is my user name on VWvortex forum, I have owned many VWs over the years.

    My bike is a 1982 CX500 with 40,000kms or 24,855 miles.
The day I picked it up

As soon as it arrived home some things had to go!

I got to the internet and started to order some parts

I chopped the rear of the frame and made some bends make the new seat fit.

I will need to do some welding and rewiring soon. Waiting for my new battery to arrive I should have some new pics for you guys.

I would like to hear some comments and opinions from you guys. Might give me some direction in which way to finish the ride

Welcome. Looks like you've made some good progress already. What's your plan for the headlight?

    How does the bike run?

What sort of battery did you get? I assume you're relocating it somewhere other than the stock position?

    Hi JC,
The bike runs good, the previous owner had the carbs rebuild and new head gaskets, new brakes front and back.
I will need to take the carbs apart and install new jets, because I have installed pod filters and soon new mufflers

Still deciding if I will be removing the H pipe or leaving it.
What do you think? gains? losses? (will I loose bottom end torque?)

As for headlights, still deciding between the new clear lens or keep the original one with the retro light diffusers.

I will be purchasing a maintenance free battery, something I can install sideways under the seat.
    Still searching

If you leave the H-box, no jetting changes required.

we are all given sh*t in life, but some of us learn to turn it into fertilizer and grow from it, and some us try to fling it on others like monkeys.

Dime City Cycles has a small battery lithium, bout the width of a coin. I went with a shori battery but it's a little big.

Hey Vicious, what did you spray your rad shroud or cover with to black? Anything special? If you don't mind me asking

Just a couple extra shots, your seat looks great with the brown.
