i agree the 500c looks best without or w/a clear shield.

The problem is once you get the 500 running sweet.

the perceived value keeps rising soon

    what you value your bike.

Is more than someone might want to

pay, then you see a poor mistreated

1 sitting for sale cheap then they really

    start multiplying.

Is the seal leaking? If it not broken don't fix it. If doing Shep one size fits all

Well got a little accomplished on my 80 cx lastnight. I put the clipons before i tore it apart just to get the feel. Loving it! Got the tail chopped off and dropped the engine. Triple bypass is up next on the engine. The engine has 8k on her should i do anything else to her while she is out? Also debating weather to go with a mono shock or classic dual but shorter. Does anyone know of a mono shock that is adjustable with air?

The Honda Pro Link used on the GL's is air controlled, but getting the swing arm matched up can be tedious. I think you will find plenty of examples in the Custom Builds sections.

With only 8k miles, all that should be needed is to check the cam chain adjustment and possibly adjust the valve lash.
I started with 14k on mine and it only needed the cam chain adjustment (at the mid point now) and valve lash.
Rode it a year and still only needed to do a mech seal replacement.
After putting in semi synth oil, I have some leaks on the front of the engine at the tach and fan seal.

Thanks RAMPRAT definitely going to do some more research... had no idea!

OCR at only 8k the stator was shot on her when i bought it. Not typical for them to go out so soon or is it? Ill check cam chain and valve lash. The last time i rode, i had a small oil leak up in the front looked like it was coming from where you described yours was leaking from. I guess ill know soon enough

8k and the stator was shot, wow!
Very unusual for that to happen.

If the leak is just the cam seal behind the fan, it will be fairly easy to fix since you can pull that seal without having to remove anything besides the fan. [after you get the radiator out of the way]
I do recommend that you get a new fan to put on since that one is old an will have age cracks around the hub.
A new fan is only $30 on Partzilla.

Got some time to clean up bench and tear into the engine. Ive decided to go with a custom rewind stator unless you folks have a different opinion...? Stator looked pretty fried. As for the cam chain guide it looks really good. The tensioner has quite some life yet in her. As i pulled the cover off the shift lever arm came out partially . Not really sure where the teeth from shift lever arm and the shift spindles should be but heres a pic of how i put her back in. With the tranny in neutral I'm hoping i set it back in its place??? Overall this bad boy is clean on the inside!!!

The shift mechanism looks right - but the photo's a bit small on my monitor to tell for sure.
