Anybody know where to get a Honda repair manual for an 82 Honda Turbo.... or a copy of the section that describes how to remove the front forks and rebuild same.
Rebuilding the forks isn't too terrible a job, but getting them off is a pain in the arse!
For me, actually getting the forks off was the easy bit as I already had the bike down to the frame. However, reinstalling everything was the part that was frustrating. That front fender, for instance, has more hidden clips than is reasonable! At least I don't think you have to take off the fairing to do the forks.
Worse, though, is that the seals I used turned out not to be so good and the forks leak already (and make stopping kind of fun). I'll need to pull 'em off and re-do them again.
I generally do not like fork rebuilding, seals, etc. What I have done in the past is to remove the fork tubes individually from the triple clamps and take them to a local independent shop and pay them to install the seals, etc. If I were simply replacing the springs, they can usually easily do them from the top caps, with the tubes still on the bike. But for seals, internal rods, etc, I just send them out. I think it is worth the money, and a shop can do them fairly quickly.
