    The big brother

    Hi guys

after i "finished" my 500 project, it was time for something new...

At the german gathering (?) in Vechta, I thought, a 650E would be a nice bike too
so now, two months later, after my 19th birtday:

Kind of a late birthday present for myself.

71.000km, from the first owner, one of around 130 in Germany, imported from the Netherlands in 1988.
Paint looks good, ProLink, Fork, Carbs, everything got overhauled, TÜV and Tires are new. I will only have to replace the generator...
when the engine is already removed, i will do a complete overhaul. The camchain and tensioner, piston rings, generator, all gaskets and mech. seals. The cylinders will be hohned (?)
The engine will get new paint and polished covers...

well yeah, thats it :big smile: I hope you understood everything, my English isnt the best...

    greetings from Germany,
    Daniel

Beautiful bike, a very nice present. And your post was easy to read.
If it doesn't make you smile, you're on the wrong bike.

Enjoy nurturing that bike my suggestion will be to try to keep it as original as humanly possible.
Proud owner - Honda GL 500 D ( Silverwing) , 1981/2 model, unmodified , with non original panniers and top box Also original parallel Keihin carbs with no acceleration pump, plus an autotensioner for the cam chain.

    Thanks guys
Yes, Im very lucky, there arent many 650s in such a good condition fur such a low price here...

Ill do a "historical certificate" at the german TÜV, so they confirm, everything is in original condition and it is in a good shape overall. So ill have to pay lass taxes and everything...

Cosy garage corner you´ve got there!

I can spot a CX 500E with Pichler full fairing, another Euro, partly stripped, a 500 Custom and that 650 Euro. Don´t leave them unattended during night - they´ll multiply!!

On a sidenote - how´s the Vechta meeting nowadays? I was there twice about 10 years ago.

Germany is a true treasure chest for nice CX-es (as well as other bikes). I´ve bought four bikes from there. A very rare -80 CX 500 Deluxe, a rather nice -81 blue CX 500 standard in Haiming, Bavaria, plus an almost mint -80 CM 400 T and an -86 SRX 600. All at steal-to-nice prices.

Don´t chop them up if they´re in good shape!

    Good luck!

Honda CX 500, 1981. 148000 kms. Candy Burgundy Red - daily rider (sort of).
Yamaha SRX 600. 56000 kms. Genista yellow (AUDI) - loong time project
Vespa GS 150 (VS5) 1960. 310000 kms. Blue - ongoing project. On the lift, bought all necessary spares. Now just to get the thumb out..
Honda ANF 125 Innova 2008. 5600 kms. Blue. Nice little thumper. Engine simply irresistible. Light and nimble. Love it.

    STURE LIVES!!!!! nice.

I agree, do the duty of stock configuration.........much more aesthetic historically.
