Well, Randall very generously lent me his UltraSonic cleaner as I haven't found money in the budget for one for myself.

I thought I'd clean up the carbs from my '80 CX parts bike.

Here are a few pics for your viewing pleasure.

    What's wrong in these pics?

Absolutely no possibly any way to balance these!

Oh, I don't believe there is anything wrong here. I used a 4-40 tap to thread the low speed emulsion tube. Then a SS screw with nut and washers to jack out the tube. Worked very well.

Just be careful when threading the tube that you don't break off the tap. Using a tap is a learned feel. Being able to apply just enough torque to get the job done without snapping it off! I've powered taped with 4-40 taps, Didn't break one on that job

Hmmm... the washers in the balance adjustment don't belong there......

The right carb butterfly was allowed free movement.

I was looking at mine for carb balancing. Almost thought of using a thumb screw with a lock nut on it. I bought one of those Motion Pro 08-0022 11" Carburetor Adjustable Tools.. Doesn't work.. Can't even get wrench on the nut straight enough to unlock it. Ended up using a 8mm deepwell and the screwdriver portion of the wrench.

The screwdriver part works well. But I dunno, the nut part doesn't. Frame is in the way to get on it square lol. When comes to carb balancing, my carbs are picky. I have two spots where they equal out. One at about 2.5 turns out. And another spot about 6 turns out. I been using the 2.5 one. But I dunno, seems ok. Trouble I am having now is one of the carb slides keeps sticking even after being cleaned. Dang things.
