So I just bought a project bike, the kid had it up and running. He gave me all the parts he had for it. Im looking on some insight, opinions on direction and generally just introducing myself. This is my first motorcycle ever and I was thinking of continuing the bobbing processes the bike was headed in. He said he took the carbs out and was trying to decide what jets he needed before he lost intrest.

    Welcome!

Which year is the bike? Pop the year and model into your forum signature - it helps us answer questions.

Any mechanical history on the bike? How many miles?

Its a 81, the guy had know Idea on miles he said he put maybe 50 hrs and the oringal owner about 80 hrs. Really dont know what all that means. But I did see it start with a jump and drive around a farm.

Welcome, I won't be much help because I like to leave the design alone as much as I can, but you never know I have a lot of experience with my bike.

Nice project bike! That bike (as it sat) would have been great for "The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride". That's the only downside about my bike being the GL-500i. It does not fit in with the classics at that ride, but I'll someday get a project bike like yours and join that ride.

    Keep us posted and welcome.

Knowing the engine runs is a start. Getting it running right might be the first task to really work on. The rest will fall into place as your ideas come forth.
Check all the links below, including the free download of the Factory Service Manual (FSM) and addendums.

You will find all you need here to get it back on the road. Be sure to look into a Motorcycle Safety Course before you get too far in. It will pay you big dividends, possibly including reduced insurance rates.
May the myriad of wheels in your head, keep the two wheels between your legs rubber side down.

It's more about raising awareness and $$$ for

    Prostate Cancer.

It's the Threads not the Treads.

the earest ride would has been a 2.5-3 hr.

    ride 1 way.

Maybe there will be a closer 1 soon.

    Seems like fun.

    'Eager" 1979 CX500C Maroon.
Name is derived from the sound of this engine at highway speeds.
    Like its eager to go.
had a Horse that was "Eager"
    But didn't sound the same.
    So I called him "Duke"
