To consider, I submit that loud pipes (HD or otherwise) piss off a factor of 100+ more lives than they save. I prefer to stick with the odds.

100x that a lot of piss.

But seriously when I first started til about 20

    loud really LOUD.

Then I found Stealth,Quiet really quiet,

cars and bikes were blazingley faster and

NO Tickets few and far between.

    Quiet pipes save Money,time,trouble and

    eardrums.

    Driving defensively saves lives.

A nice quiet safe drive/ride on a bike

is surpassed by 1-2,,,,,, maybe 3 things.

    I don't know why ................

    never mind,,,,,,,,,,

I know why its so popular.

    I also know it's false,,,period

I could go on and on and on like the loud guy with

    a loud Ride...................but reality is he won't

    hear you.

    'Eager" 1979 CX500C Maroon.
Name is derived from the sound of this engine at highway speeds.
    Like its eager to go.
had a Horse that was "Eager"
    But didn't sound the same.
    So I called him "Duke"

Stock HD pipes are barely tolerable. Why intentionally destroy your hearing riding with loud pipes? I have never understood that. And why intentionally alienate all your neighbors? Says a lot about guys who do that.

as a Harley owner with loud pipes what really pisses me off is the Harley guy with loud pipes and a freaking radio system cranked all the way up so he can hear it over the loud pipes. I just sit an laugh at them and shake my head.
What I do not understand is how you can hear anything going down the road at 60-80 mph. The wind noise is so loud I can hardly hear my own pipes.

On another matter I see he is back. Can't see what he wrote as he is blocked.

Another perspective on Harley Davidson in the USA. It is the number one selling motorcycle period. It takes all of Honda, Susiki, and Kawasaki sales combined to surpass Harley sales. So you Harley haters are in the minority. Harley does not sell little cheap bikes under 500cc and yet the are king of the US market. The bikes are expensive, beautiful paint jobs from the factory, best chrome, and 100,000 mile plus engines.
Harley is all about customization. Harley makes a ton of money on chrome, HP upgrades, apparel especially fine leather goods.

You go buy a Honda then what! Cookie cutter bikes. I think I will buy a Honda 1000cc crouch rocket. Do I like Red or Black? Cookie cutter bikes.

Hell I remember not to long ago a motorcycle line called Victory was going to destroy Harley. Guess not! Maybe The new recycled Indian for the tenth time will beat Harley. Doubtful. I hear their big twin engine has a major design flaw. They have a knock or piston slap and the tell owners well that is normal.

Harley since 1903 and still going strong.

OMG!!! Say it ain't so!! Ye have strayed from the true path! The shame!!! LOL Just kidding. If my pockets were deep enough, there'd be an Indian Roadmaster parked in the garage right next to the Hondas!

I have to say I am not a HD hater, I actually like the bikes and appreciate the attention to the design and quality machining aspects.
I even like what they were made for, droning on endlessly on the interstate highways of the great plains.
I would even consider getting one except for their price and my bias for bikes under 600 pounds that can enter a turn with confidence.
What I criticize in my previous post would apply equally to any bike Jap, German, English, Italian, or American.
I also think HD bashing for the sake of baiting is bad manners, boys.

I like the Street 750. Water-cooled and makes good horsepower for the weight and size. At 57.6 horsepower, it makes more than 10hp over the 883 sportster, and also 10hp more than the Yamaha Bolt. Still, for my money I'd go with the new Rebel 500. 44.5hp, but 72 lbs lighter than the Street 750.

My only problem with HD isn't the the bike itself or the riders and only pertains to me. I hate how many of them are, it's as simple as that for me.

I do however wish that craigslist has a search feature that excluded all Harleys, over half the bikes for sale on CL are Harleys and I get sick of constantly wading through them.
