    Rear shock question

I have Hagon rear shocks on my bike and I have a general question. There's a rubber piece on the rod inside the coil spring. I pushed it down so it was on top of the shock. I rode with the shock set to it's lowest/loosest setting and checked it at the end of the ride. It was seated back at the top of the shock again. I set the shock to it's middle setting and pushed the rubber bit back down on top of the shock and checked it at the end of the ride. It was seated back at the top again. There are subtle speed bumps at work but nothing that serious. Am I bottoming out or is it normal? There are only three settings on the shock and the next one is the stiffest.

Are you adjusting the pre-load on the spring or are you adjusting the shock? Bottoming out would be due to a too weak spring wouldn't it?

They're Hagon "Road" and barely 2 years old. Adjusting the shock? No. The preload settings is the only adjustment and there's only 3 settings.
