I need to replace my coils, was removing them and noticed one of them was split open along its entire length. What are my upgrade options? The bike was not running when I got it, the previous owner said it was misfiring on the left cylinder, I think I found why.

The question would be what bike do you have? I don't see any hints in the question or your signature line?

Well your options are to hunt down a set on ebay or do what I did. I bought a pair of these and thew work great for the price. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/IGNIT...Q5fAccessories

They're about 1/2 the size of stock so you have to make a 2 inch bracket to connect to the coil and the bracket that goes between the frame and the engine.

    Don,

When you say "work well for the price" what do you mean? They are cheap. Do they "perform cheap"? I'm looking to replace the coils on my 78 CX500, but want something reliable, and am willing to pay a little more for that.

Looking to marry new coils with a new Ignitech unit.

What I mean is they are half the size of the stock coils and I have never had a problem with them.

I'm using the ignitech also and it's nice having new parts compared to the bulky 30 year old parts that you don't know when will fail.

I did notice on the right coil it must of got a bit of heat to the underside rear of the casing because it melted a bit but not in any part that would hurt function.

The only bad thing about them is the 2 week wait for them to come from china.

A pair of these will work,

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/UNIVE...Q5fMerchandise

Just have a slight different mounting bracket.

Or take a gamble on a pair of these because they are so cheap,

My only concern is the length of the HT(Thick wire). The actual coils will work.Or contact the seller and check the length of the present ones.If the above cheap ones are long enough then they are a mega bargain. Most sellers will combine postage.
