so i bought larry's carb book, i just put the bike back together and it won't idle. if fires up and if the choke is pulled it will stay alive but is really rough, and it will throttle up to 4500rpms. also i can't seem to get any response from the main idle speed screw. before i pulled them apart the bike idled well, and if the choke was pulled half way it had good throttle response. with the choke in it had a dead spot in acceleration at 4500rpms.

Carb boot air leak most likely after re-fit or stuck linkage.

From the right hand side of the bike with the engine idling spray some Carb/Brake cleaner or Hairspray or WD40 type stuff around the carb boots on the Air intake and engine side of the boots and also shoot through to the left hand side inner boot areas. If the engine speed changes even the slightest in either direction there is a leak.

Repeat from the Left hand side of the bike. This is to make sure you get all round all possible areas where there can be an air-leak.

The leaks can be a PITA.Keep going and checking for even the slightest one.
