    79 Custom, oil light issue

I know that some electric problems will trip it...
Any body know if a bad battery that is not charging properly can trip the oil warning light?

On the 79's I believe they used the oil light to also indicate the rear brake light was burned out.

lift the seat and see if you have a black relay marked tail lamp warning

its a loose or bad light bulb / connnection in the tail light that trips the light 79 custom only

the other issue it could be if you dont have the black relay

is a chafed wire on the front being hit by the fan blade on the white shield blue red wire

it comes from the oil pressure switch on the front of the motor up behind the fan

and out the top of the motor
    GET AN OIL FILTER ADAPTER

Order The Quick Build Exhaust Pipes

    GET A QUICKSET VALVE TOOL

Way to many bikes to maintain this list LOL !!

    Love this forum.
ki4radiocom cx500c 1981. Randakk's spin-on oil filter adapter. Ignitech. CorrosionX. Its my ugly, I'll ride if I want to, ride if I want to. You would ride to, if you had one to. Working on 72,000 miles now. Many mistakes are made along the road to wisdom, threw knowledge !! Just my thoughts. I am working on my sisters v-star 1100 2003 with less than 4000 miles. She let it sit outside for many years. Stupid start button was at fault. Well, you know what sitting and old gas does.
Ugly, is, the name of my motorcycle. It is painted on the side covers.

If I want to disconnect the break warning light in a way that in the future I will be able to make it it's own light, how would I need to go about it?

I think that I have everything original. I will try to upload a photo from under the seat.

If your lights are working, the relay is fubar. Unplug it. If the light is out, fix it.
The black box in the photo is the relay in question.
