    Blivy,
If you're keen on preserving stock color codes for wiring, you might try NAPA auto parts stores. In my area, they have an amazing variety including X with Y stripe patterns.

    Bob,
    You're dead right.
    I was using incorrect terms.
By "short"I probably meant "open". And by "ignition" I probably meant "key switch".

Truth is though, this is the second harness off of eBay on this bike and they've both had lots of gremlins!

The guy at Vintage Connections recommended a place called Rhode Island wiring service for wires. They look like they've got a ton of good stuff out there.

Now I just want to get an undervrngine battery box to get all my major changes done before rewiring.

    Any recs?

Hands down, the best way to get a collection of all the color coded wires used in the Honda wiring harness is to snag another wiring harness from a junkyard or from a local parts bike.

Murray--I'll tell you what...it may come to that. Though my hoped for plan is to go up there, buy some carbs and go for a ride. Electrical problems (and lack of time to work on them) have got me sidetracked.
However, what bob and purple have said makes sense. I still have some stock wire from my first harness laying around so per chilimacs comment I may have all I need minus a connector.

also, I'm thinking of switching to your favorite AGM battery.
I have the ballistic LI one. It works pretty well and has stayed strong for years, but when it's cold down here (and by that I mean anything lower than 50 degrees) I have to be patient to get it to start.
Shame though cause the small size makes it easier to tuck under my seat. That's why I've been looking for an under engine mount.
