    Not where I want to be . . .

    Hey Hi Hello
Gather round and please spit ball your ideas.
    1980 CX500 Deluxe 37K
Turns over freely but will not run, sputter, fake coming to life.

Zero resistance measured at A/B, B/C,/C/A plug.
    Very clean kill switch.
    Coils measured 3.2
Blue from spark plug when grounding to head pipe collar.
I have not measured the battery while cranking.

Larry C rebuilt last summer and ran very well.
Fall came and it was hard to start. And now won't run.

I acknowledge dirt getting in and blocking both carbs is probable.
Filter between tank and carb. Fresh gas after draining carb bowls.
I haven't turned any screws on the carb.
Possible air leak at intake but spray test did not rev or fire motor.
When I spray carb cleaner into the spark plug hole,
both cylinders fire and run while "fuel" is present.
Yes spray then insert spark plugs then start cranking.

So please advise any thoughts as to the problem being equally
    left and right cylinders.

    Thank You

Test for continuity between pin 9 and A,B, C. While you're at it check ABC for continuity to ground. There shouldn't be any in either case.

    Try new sparkplugs.

we are all given sh*t in life, but some of us learn to turn it into fertilizer and grow from it, and some us try to fling it on others like monkeys.

Thank you again for your help.
I will follow through & up with results.

I meant to ask about brand of hand tools for cleaning the carbs.
Larry's book for step by step. And I found a very well made Keihin carb video on U tube.

    Please advise and THANKS
It is over an hour long but complete in parts and procedure.

    Update
I sent my carburetor down to Larry.
    His findings>>>

    Glenn,
Well sir, I have good news, and I have bad news! The carbs fired right up and don't have a problem. I didn't touch anything before putting them on. After warm up they responded nice the way they're supposed to.
The bad news, you need to start testing the ignition components including the CDI, stator, ignition switch, kill switch, coils, etc.
Also make sure you had no vacuum leaks from bad manifolds, and that you don't have any restrictions in the air filter box.
Sorry for the bad/good news. At the bottom of the page in this link there's some electrical links that will lead you to some of the testing. https://motofaction.org/motorcycles/honda-cx-gl/
This link has a list of things in it that will lead you to testing things also. https://sites.google.com/site/cx500gl500/
    Larry

Good news to find out one part of the system is working properly.
A messed-up or a dirty carburetor is worst than the electrical system.
Excluding a bad stator and the windings.

So return the carbs back onto the bike and . . . check for vacuum leaks.
    meter the entire system.
    Moving on>>>
