check your pulse generators hot and cold

yellow to yellow 530 ohms plus or minus 60

blue to blue 530 ohms plus or minus 60

make sure none of the wires have continuity to ground

do te above test engine cold then engine hot preferably when its acting up

also check you high rpm 5k charging rate over voltage can cause an igniter to get stupid

Make sure you have a clean air filter. A dirty/oiled one will give the same type of hesitations.
If it doesn't make you smile, you're on the wrong bike.

I checked, and found that my air filter has a coating of oil. I will get a new air filter, and also check my pulse generators. Where are they located?

If it's a foam filter, it should be oiled. You can wash it out and respray it.

the pulse gens are located under a cover on the very back of the engine the cover has the air vent line

there is a small square 4 wire connector that come out the side and ends up right near the frame near the air box 2 blues 2 yellows

you do the test from the engine side 4 wire connector

I'm with Murray on this. It sounds a lot like what my 650 did when a pulser failed. Testing them is covered in the FSM. If you don't have one you can download it via the CX Wiki (link in my signature)

Get new Spark Plug Caps just to eliminate as they are an often overlooked cause of this kind of problem. For some reason people think these units are indestructible and can never fail.

However there are around 6 electrical points of contact susceptible to corrosion and degradation over time,

If you have a digital Multimeter set it to the 20k ohm setting and use the probes on the plug caps.If they read over 10 K ohms they need replacing. As new they should be 5K ohms however you can use None Resistor Plug caps if using modern,"R" specification spark plugs.

Do you have a recommendation on what type of spark plug caps to get that will fit. I know very little about that system and would love to change my wires and caps. I'm nervous on what type and size to get.
