    Hi Chaps

Ive just bought a CX500 (A) from a chap in Tonbridge Kent and brought it home today. Its a bit shabby but a good starting point. Pictures to follow.

Its going to take a while...16 yrs in a garage by the sea...leant against a wall as sidestand and main stand were rusted and no use at all...need new ones!
A rustfree unwelded swingarm was sourced from Germany...
Forks are going to be stripped and new seals put in...Wheels at media blasters...
I do have spare 18in rear wheel with a ContiGo tyre on it thats done less than 100 miles if anyone interested?
The seat foam is on to get idead....need to make a seatbase first....long seat?..short seat??...
Work in progress...hopefully done for the DGR in September

I can finally post in this thread after much searching and looking at lots of junk, I now have CX500B of 79 vintage, which is nearly as old as me. Previous owner has done the old girl proud and whilst a bit rough around the edges it is mechanically sound and probably in better condition than the last CX I had in the early 90's. Riding it back home was a laugh and I'd forgotten the simple pleasures of riding an old bike as my usual ride is a KTM 1190 Adventure.
I'm looking to make this into a scrambler/brat bike but also something that I might tempt the wife to ride as I trying to encourage her to get a bike licence. It's insured until the middle of next month on my existing policy so will have some fun with as it stands and then start to strip it down when the insurance is up for renewal. I'll be taking my time with it to have it rebuilt for next Spring.Name: cx500.jpg

The CX500B was the 1981 year model. So, if it's a 1979, T reg, it now appears to have got a 1981 front wheel, radiator shroud, A/B flyscreen...
