Gerard, did you mean "Who's still insured?" I can fix that if so.

Done. Hope your season (which is more or less like mine) continues to have windows of opportunity to ride.

Wait a minute... You guys in BC can take the insurance off during the cooler season? Here in Ontario they haven't sold less than full year coverage for at least 30 years.....

Gerard--my insurance runs out on the 7th. If it stops raining between now and then let's meet up and ride! I doubt if two 650e's have been seen here on the streets together for some time.
SB--we can buy insurance for 6 months but for an extra fee of course. We also can buy cheaper "collector vehicle" insurance for a bike over 25 years old but with a lot of small print attached.

Hi Missing linkage, pm me your phone number and weather permitting we can do as you suggest.
The other way to save money on insurance here is put it on monthly payment plan for a year ,when winter comes cancell the policy. only thing you have to do is return the licence plate.
ML have the Silverwing insured this year, not the CX which still runs of course, always nice to have spare bike (just incase). cheers Gerard

Here insurance is run by private companies. You can cancel your insurance after 6 months and get a rebate (or have your payments stopped) but they pro-rate it based on the percentage of your use that is expected for the months you aren't covered for (I can't remember the exact numbers but July & August are something like 30% each and January & February are around 5%). If you do they charge you a new policy fee when you re-insure that is a significant part of the rebate. I used to move the plate & insurance to the other bike spring & fall but they consider that a new policy (even though it has the same policy number) and most of them won't write a new policy on a bike over 30 years old so I can't do that anymore.

I think if I lived in a climate like the lower mainland I would probably keep the insurance on mine and use it whenever it wasn't snowing..... That has to be more often there than it is here and there are guys here who will take their bike out in the winter if the sun is shining.

Enjoy the weather. The highest temp in our 14 day forecast is 14 for Monday and its all downhill from there. Around here we spend a lot of the winter telling ourselves "At least we don't have hurricanes"...
