So I am in the middle of replacing my original IC's with the Nology Profire's. I know this seems like a stupid question, but the old coils don't have a +/- label on them and I'm not good with electrical diagrams. Are the black/white wires the positive or negative? Thanks

White is power and black is ground on most aftermarket coils.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. There are 2 wires running to each coil. They both have a black/white wire that comes from the starter switch. The second wire leading to the left coil is blue and to the right is yellow. They come from the TI spark units. I'm just not sure which wire to connect to the + and - on each new coil. The original coils do not have a +/- on them.

Welcome to the forum. Please go to the CX Wiki (another link in my signature) and download the wiring diagram and Factory Service Manual for your specific model.

Murray gave you the short answer. Here's how to figure it out for yourself: On the wiring drawing you can follow the lines on it to see which wire goes from where to where. All circuits begin with the battery's positive terminal, which is connected to (via the fuse) the red wire. The red wire runs directly to the Ignition Switch where it connects to the black wire when the key is turned On (= black is switched power). You will see that the black/white wire to the spark units and the coils comes from the Engine Stop Switch (kill switch) where it connects to the black wire when the switch is on. Since the black/white is connected to positive it has to be the positive side of the coil.

So, do we have any actual BTDT on the replacement coils?

Went to start the GL500I and go down and get an inspection sticker and it looks like left hand coil has decided to screw the pooch. Almost a year to the day since the right side decided to pull a French military.

These turned up on Oz ebay recently.

Listed for all CX models they appear to be TI coils.

That can't be right, can it? If they are TI coils they aren't right for the CDI models and if they are right for CDI models they aren't TI coils..... I think....

We're really waiting for Locomojo to chime in about the ones he ordered.
