Hear Ye Hear Ye.
This is the official Honda Transverse Twins of American Annual Spring Rally. Held in beautiful, twisty, mountainous, secluded Suches Ga. April 27- 30.

It will be held at the High Valley Campground. (<Clicky) Last weekend in April. 27th- 30th. Plan to show up Friday and beat the rush for a sweet campsite or bunkhouse. Activities include a group ride Saturday. Sunday will be a lazy, do whatever day. There will be a farewell dinner planned for Sunday at the Rib Country in Blairsville. Group ride should last most of the day with rest stops and meals planned into it. Bring your comfy bike seat, you'll be in it for awhile! The surrounding are is just chocked full of great twisty motorbike friendly roads. Stunning mountain views. More parks than you can shake a stick at. Suches is in the Chattahoochee National Forest. Right smack dab in the middle, by the southern edge. Thus its pretty sparsely populated. Yeah for us! Meals will be eaten away from camp. Unless you want to grill something. There is no restaurant like the old T.W.O. There is however a large common area called Frank's Place with a T.V., karaoke, microwave, fireplace, tables, couch, and free WiFi. There is acess to a fridge, ice, and if memory serves correctly a washer an dryer. High Valley offers campsites, bunkhouses, and a big "Summer camp" type dormitory with bunk beds, a clean wash house, and even a landing strip! Please see the High Valley link for rates and contact info. There is a nice mom n pop cafe right down the road. They were very good to us last year, more than likley we will be eating there.

It is sure to be a lot of fun. If you miss this event you, will miss this event. Get it? Ha. I crack me up. Anywho, be there or be square. Please reply here if you plan to attend and what days your staying. We would love to have ya. Any updates we be in the post below.

I still remember torquing Old Yeller through all those north Georgia twisties Cheese, Suzie would probably snap in two, I think I'll pass on this years challange. Have a good time everyone.

Steve, stop in for a rest if you can.

Cheese, I wish I could attend but this year I am limiting my trips to the Mountain Momma rally and maybe the Amish. I would love to be there with you guys, North Georgia is one of my favorite places. I remember the little restaurant, I hope the family has been able to keep it open. One thing I will not do again and that is to take the hack back on those twisties! This year my trips will be with the GL riding on a trailer to the rally, then I put it on the road! I hope to see you at the Mountain Momma rally in June, have you made your reservations? Enjoy North Georgia!

Phil sorry to hear you wont make it. Truly I am. It seems a rally isn't the same without you in it.

Gene, pretty much the same as for Phil. You seem to be as much as part of any moto get together. You will be missed as well. Maybe when things settle down for me I can do a short trip up to see you old foggies! One at a time of coarse.

To be honest, with the private side of my life getting out of hand, I'm pushing it to attend this Rally. I will be there, I really need this small vacation. Just not planning anything for the future.

Here is a suggested route for Saturday's ride:

Posted Image

Total distance is about 180 miles and it should take 5-6 hours, including a lunch stop. It includes Wolf Pen Gap Road, a Blood Mountain run, Highway 60 north of Suches, and a pass by Fort Mountain.

The Cheese and I rode a similar route last year and discovered a nice cafe just south of Chatsworth for lunch.

If you like mountain twisties, great scenery, and good chow this is not one to miss.

Cheese, apparently you may not make the Mountain Momma rally. I echo Phil's comment, you will be welcome any time you can come by!

I just had to pay $400 in local income tax my employer forgot to withhold, and that was my mad money for the trip down. So if you guys see me down there it will be a surprise to all of us.

That route looks like a blast, perfect for shaking down my new Avon Roadriders and the suspension mods on Greylag. Damn!

I would love to make it
here is the BUT
I have my little guy that weekend and I know he cannot take any rides that long.

I am just getting him used to riding at all.
Funniest thing last night listening to him singing on the back of the bike.
I could hear him at stop signs.
1978 CX500 Running better than I thought it ever would - thanks to you guys.
1980 KZ250 LTD Single - Now it is running well - also thanks a lot to you guys.
1977 GL1000 NGW current project. Started carbs and am wondering what I was thinking!

Any day I ride to work is a better day than any day I drive to work.
Any day I drive to work is a better day than any day I walk to work.
Any day I walk to work is a better day than any day I am too sick to work.
Any day I get to ride around all day and not go to work is beautiful!

I have a commitment I cannot break on Sat. but could maybe come down Sat evening and Sunday. What's up for Sunday and would the trip be worth it?

I live about 220 miles away. Mostly Interstate driving down I-24 so likely 4 hour drive. I hate Interstate driving though so I'm not sure about trying to get there for such a short time.

But I'll likely make a spur of the moment decision so maybe y'all will see me.

Just checked the weather for this weekend. Looks very sweet. Couldn't ask for better. Bikes almost ready, I'm getting impatient. Time for my butt to be in the woods.

Friday 40% Rain, High of 76, Low of 59

Saturday 10% Rain, High of 82, Low of 58

Sunday
10% Rain, High of 78, Low of 51

Just for a teaser, have a pic from February of last year. This was taken on Wolf Pen Gap RD AKA Hwy 180. Headed into Suches.

Aaaah Dave, you should have read the thread, Jerry is NOT coming! What that means is that the 10% chance for rain will fall somewhere else and not on the Spring rally!

BTW, Cheese, would you remind the guys who show up of the Mountain Momma rally on June 8-10 in Marlinton, West Virginia. Once again attendees will receive a free T shirt to commerate the rally. The Old Clark Inn tells me today (4/27/12) that they are almost full for that weekend. I released one extra room they were holding for me and I have an extra bed in my room should anyone miss out and needs a bed, first come, first served! I am really sorry that I will not make it this year, I wanted to pose for another picture to replace that one you posted, it looks too much like me!

What a day with the guys on the bikes. Left home at 7:30 this morning to meet for a ride starting out from Suches, GA. Ran for 200 miles with them. Great ride! Was introduced to some new roads. DaveF and The Cheese are on my 'don't miss a chance to ride with them' list for sure. Fabulous weather. pulled out at nightfall. Did I say I had a great day?

The guys had such a great campfire going when I left, I could see the orange glow on the horizon for miles. ;-).

Thanks for pulling this together!
