Copper Crush Washer Mech seal

I am preparing to do my mech seal using Shep method and keep reading about the importance of condition of copper crush washer. Can this be bought new ? Where from? Thank's

They can be bought new, but only from Honda as far as I know, they appear to be a size all their own.

Although at 6 mm I'd expect them to be a fairly standard item, I've never managed to source a match.

Still no good to me though.

Even in lots of 10 the shipping still makes them individually more expensive then a single one from Honda.

Where do they get these shipping prices? <_<

If I understand correctly, (I just completed this exercise), just take the old washer, heat it with a propane torch until it glows red and let it cool by itself and that makes it as good as new. Now no need to source another. This assuming you actually have the old one.

I know how to anneal, but since I am usually ordering seals, O rings, etc from Honda, I just add the washer for a buck. Gives me piece of mind.

If the crush washer is too indented from the Acorn nut no amount of heating/annealing will make it serviceable.

Same washer may be used in other motorcycles,

They carry both aluminum and copper.
