I am puzzled by "...The bike run's well, just needs the carb's cleaning and balancing..." If it runs well why do the carb's need cleaning and balancing? I only touch my carb's when there is an issue and the bike isn't running well.

It runs, but start's without choke so running rich.ill be stripping the bike down to clean and paint it,so I might as well clean the carb's while there off as it hasn't been used for years so I've no idea how old the fuel is.

Hi guys, I've finished welding, filling, sanding and painting the rear end. I've cut a slot to take the strip light which acts as a running, brakelights and indicators.before anybody says anything,I am fitting bolt on indicators as well for the MOT ?.
Next I've got to fit the seat brackets, and cut the rear mudguard to accept the new seat.

Do you think that cutting that slot in the rear hoop significantly reduces its strength?

I guess that will partly depend on the seat used. Riding two up could put weight on that portion of the hoop.
